On the Third Day of Christmas, Pinewood Steading gave to me.. a West Coast Road Trip!

Jump in the car and join us on one of our favourite road trips! This lovely drive to the West Coast takes in great views and the Falls of Shin, Glen Oykel, Assynt, Knockan Crag National Nature Reserve and the village of Ullapool. Take a detour into Lairg to visit the wonderful cafe, The Pier. Shin Falls has a visitor Centre, café, lovely woodland walks and the opportunity to watch leaping salmon! Glen Oykel is pretty remote and offers an amazing drive through dramatic scenery, you’ll see the mountains of the west coast up ahead and in particular, Suiliven: this is one of Scotland’s most iconic peaks and a real eye catcher. Knockan Crag is worth a stop (not only for the views) but for the history and geology as this place holds the key to amazing stories of colliding continents.

Stop by in Ullapool, a beautiful fishing village with stunning views. It’s full of quaint shops, book stores, cafes, restaurants, a beautiful beach for sea glass hunting and we think, the best fish and chips around!
